Students from Cluj region can discover adventure tourism professions in the framework of the “School in a Different Way 2025” program, organized at Adrenalin Park! School in a Different Way is an educational program dedicated to extracurricular activities, organized annually by schools in Romania. Every year, Adrenalin Park welcomes groups of pupils with hands-on training in adventure activities. For 2025 we have prepared a series of specific activities: adventure tourism, specific professions in adventure parks, how does an adventure park work and safety on adventure courses.
Adventure Tourism
According to the World Tourism Organization, adventure tourism is a type of tourism that usually takes place in destinations with specific geographical features and landscapes and tends to be associated with physical activity, cultural exchange, interaction and engagement with nature. This experience may involve some type of real or perceived risk and may require significant physical and/or mental effort.
Adventure tourism, generally, includes outdoor activities such as mountaineering, hiking, bungee jumping, rock climbing, rafting, canoeing, kayaking, canyoning, mountain biking, scuba diving. Some adventure activities can also be practiced indoors.
Climbing can be practiced on natural structures such as rocks, icefalls and trees or on artificial structures such as climbing walls (outdoor or indoor).
In the case of Adrenalin Park and adventure parks, we are dealing with tree climbing and ziplines.
Professions In The Field of Adventure Parks
As the professions in the field of adventure tourism are many and varied, depending on the activities listed above, when visiting Adrenalin Park, we will focus on the adventure park specific professions! Students will have the opportunity to discover and understand what is the work of:
- Sports Animators
- Adventure Park Monitors
- Team Workshop Facilitators
- Group Event Coordinators
- Adventure Camp Coordinators
How Does An Adventure Park Work?
Students attending the School In A Different Way programmes at Adrenalin Park will have the opportunity to go through the flow of welcoming guests to the adventure park and learn more about the preparations before the daily opening.
And because learning is always easier when it’s done in a relaxed and fun way, of course the students will have the opportunity to try out the main steps themselves:
- Arrival at the Adventure Park reception
- General rules
- Getting equipped with the climbing harness with self-locking carabiners and pulley, and helmet
- Initiation and learning of the rules for the adventure courses and zip-lines
- Practicing self-safety techniques
- Dismounting in the correct order and handing over the equipment
Safety on the Adventure Courses
As the top priority of any adventure park is to provide maximum safety for its guests, our colleagues will explain in more detail how things happen in practice. Students will have the opportunity to find out how long it takes to train the adventure park monitors, what they have to learn, what equipment they use and when they have to intervene.
If the students are curious, the park team will also be able to carry out a demonstration of an aerial rescue, so that everyone can visualize how the intervention is done and the extremely short time it takes to perform the rescue.
